places to see in Cedar Rapids

     In Cedar Rapids, you don't have much to do year-round. But as Halloween comes closer around I have been wondering about what happens here in fall. What things are out there to do? How much do they cost? How far away are they from home? So here is my list of things to do in the city of five smells.

Brucmore house 

1. The Brucsmore house. It is rumored to be haunted. So it's the first on the list of places to explore this fall. It is a 19th-century mansion with 26 acres of land. To tour this lovely building it is $9 per adult. For students (not college students), it is $3 per student ages 6-18. And anyone under the age of 5 gets in free. In this tour, you will see 21 beautiful rooms and the servant quarters. And a day after Thanksgiving the Brucmore will be lavished with Christmas decorations. Paramount Theater

2. In downtown Cedar Rapids, you can find the Paramount Theater. For this one, I say get someone to drive you there or bring some spare change and come early. Parking in downtown Cedar Rapids is a nightmare. But the Paramount Theater is historic. It is the perfect place to go to settle in with someone else and watch a performance. At this theater, you can watch things from ballet performances to singers. This November the Long Island Medium is coming to the Paramount where she will share personal experiences. 3. If you're looking for some Halloween fun, go to the Black Angel in Oak Hill Cemetery. While you're there you might as well drive around for a bit. It might be a little harder to find her if you're not from Iowa, but a little driving and you might find her. It's rumored that if you look at her you will die within 24 hours. Cemeteries are so much fun with statues like this around. It is said that the angel was made out of bronze, but the person buried under it was so evil that her soul turned the angel black. A fun thing to try to find in this cemetery is the oldest gravestone. Can you find the oldest grave in this cemetery?
